Real Madrid "far" from reaching its limit

11/02/2007 - Seville, Spain (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Although Real Madrid is off to another great start, coach Bernd Schuster said Friday "we are far from reaching our limit."

The defending La Liga champions, who sit atop the standings with a four-point lead, visit Sevilla on Saturday.

Real Madrid (8-1-1) is coming off a 5-1 over Valencia on Wednesday, the second time this season it has scored five goals in a match.

But Schuster isn't worried about what happened Wednesday.

"Tomorrow's game is now much more important to me," he said Friday.

Although Barcelona, which lost the league to Real last year on a tiebreaker, remains one of Madrid's top challengers, Schuster is focused on only one team - his own.

"I don't think we should look at any team behind us. The important thing is that we are leaders. We should only focus on ourselves because we have enough as it is trying to improve with every game. The season is very long and titles are decided in the last few games," Schuster said.

Sevilla (4-5-0) has struggled following the death of Antonio Puerta, who died a few days after collapsing during the season opener. But Sevilla posted a 3-0 win over Valencia last week and battled to a tough 4-3 loss to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

"I think they are going through a difficult time. I don't even want to know what would have happened to us in a similar situation. Antonio Puerta's death was a hard blow and they have coped with it very well," Schuster said.

Third-place Villarreal visits fourth-place Atletico Madrid in Sunday's biggest match in La Liga. Both clubs are within five points of Real and need a win to remain within striking distance of the leaders.

Mallorca hosts Valencia, which hired former PSV coach Ronald Koeman on Friday, in Saturday's only other match.

On Sunday, Barcelona hosts Real Betis, Osasuna hosts Getafe, Athletic Bilbao hosts Recreativo, Racing hosts Espanyol, Real Murcia hosts Deportivo, Levante hosts Almeria and Real Zaragoza hosts Real Valladolid.
